Q: Does the fluid need to be retained in the shell to keep
the joint intact?

A: No, as the copper deforms during the inflation process it work hardens and once the joint has been made the fluid is not required.
If required the pressure can be released from the shell by using the Redman pressure release tool.

Q: Can you join PE 80 and PE 100?
A: Yes, any PE pipe, 80 or 100 can be joined, the only criteria is the SDR sizes.

Q: Can you join different pipe sizes and different SDR sizes?
A: Yes, reducers are available to accommodate this. Please contact us for further details.

Q: Is any special equipment required?
A: Yes, the Redman portable hand pump is required to pressurise the joint. No other special equipment is needed.

Q: Do you need to prepare the end of the pipes before fitting the Redman system?
A: No special preparation is required, other than to make sure that the pipe ends are reasonably square and any large burrs removed.

Q: Is there a different pressure used to pressurise a 63mm fitting than say a 180mm fitting?
A: No, one pressure rating, 260 bar, does the complete range.

Q: What skills are required to install the Redman system?
A: The system is very simple to install so no skill factors are involved, just reasonable common sense. To train a person to use the system takes less than 15 minutes.
